💥 New work online 💥 Polyelectrolyte brushes change conformation in response to pH and/or ionic strength, making them highly functional in biological contexts. An ability to spatially resolve these responses would offer many exciting possibilities 🤓 Here, after much trial and error 😆, we managed to successfully integrate FRET chemistry into polyelectrolytes, providing high spatiotemporal resolution over chain transitions in response to pH. The gifs are fascinating and informative 😎 Excellent outcome from Jyoti’s Humboldt fellowship, with exciting applications going forward! 😉 Gif shows a pH 4 droplet going to meet a pH 8 droplet.
